My Top 10 Crafty Creations for 2012

New Blog

Before I get to my top 10.  I have decided that it’s time to move on from this here blog.  With the complications I am having with links and zip folders and what not. And no one really knowing why and wanting to start the new year in a good way, fresh!  I thought really hard on this, but not overly long, because it just felt right, right away when the idea came to me.  2013 will bring a fresh start for me.  And new blog, that I have been working hard on over the past few days.  I will have more SOON.

I can’t believe I am at this time of year and doing this again.  But it’s really is always so much fun to go back through my year and see how much I have grown.  Well I like to think I have, haha.  Here are my TOP 10 and I wrote a little something above each one. Top 10Way back in January 2012 in my card making days, this is one of my all time favourite cards that I made and I think it has absolutely everything to do with the image from Krista at Saturated Canary.

I don’t know why, but there is something whimsical about this smash page that makes it one of my favourites, because it’s so Heidi, so suiting.  Using image from AngieDelarie.

APRILThis what a RE-SCRAP.  You can find the blog post HERE…  I took an old scrapbook page and re-scrapped it.  It’s a photo of my mum and I and one that I have always just loved.  She looks so hippy, just like me.

AUGUSTMy first daybook that I completed and basically my only still.  And I loved absolutely every moment of it and love getting it out to flick through.  I had no theme, just added photos that I loved and made sure there was a bit of everyone.  Amy Tan [Tangerine] is amazing and I was lucky to meet her and get her to sign this very daybook!  Something I will now cherish forever.

029I love my sister, would do anything for her.  And I love when she comes to town for a weekend.  It’s almost like she feels she can be her again.  Not that is fake haha, but she gets to let down her hair and leave her stressful work life behind just for a little while and be a dag and an amazing aunty.  One of my favourite smash pages to date and I think it’s mainly because of the photos of Bashy…

I love this layout.  Am I aloud to say that?  We should be proud of what we do!  I got a mini kit from Jodie at Polka Dot Creative and while I was meant to be cooking dinner I kept coming back to this layout and it came together by the time dinner was on.  It all just came together so well and I love the photo of my mini me and I.

OCT1This was one of my first 12 x 12 layouts that I done.  It all came together so well and using Amy Tan products really does help, as they are so me!  I love doing a clutter in a corner and paint spots around that, that is my style [lately].  This was a Design Team work for Polka Dot Creative.

I put this together to showcase my stamps and while I smudged the black ink spots and thought I wasn’t happy with it, the more I kept looking at it the more imperfectly perfect it was for my style.

Project Life didn’t play a BIG role in my life this year, not like I was hoping for.  But it did play a part of it.  2013 is going to be different I can feel it.  But till then I am still going to play catch up with 2012 and this week was done as part of a hop for Paper Issues and The Stamp Shop.

DECI made a few Christmas crafts and I actually wanted to list another 4, but of course I like them more so because they are my latest creations.  This happened when I did this last year.  i had to stop myself from wanting to pick all my latest crafts.  I was so pleased with how this turned out.  I am considering just leaving it there for the year on my door!

Welcome to another hop with the SMASHING SISTERS.  It feels like forever since we had the last one huh?  The girls and I decided to do them every other month, OF COURSE one would think that would make you more organised right?  WRONG, not me, I’m a leave it till last minute sort of girl, aka just did this today, and had more time than I thought I had being that we were going off Lizzie our hosts timeline and I’m in Australia and she is all the way over the ocean, so while I rushed, turns out I made it with enough time to spare.

Now onto my smashing page, it has been a while since I did a smash page, and it was fun to get back into it again, sometimes you forget just how much you miss doing something you hadn’t done in a while.  I decided to use my Blue Retro Smash Book [I bought another one because I wasn't overly happy with my first smash attempts, it was the first book I used, WHAT?  Don't act like you wouldn't do it too hehe!]  All you Australian girls can get yours HERE… at Polka Dot Creative.

I had to do this page with that photo, it’s so funny and so matching that you would almost think I got Bowzie to pose just for this page, but nope I asked her to smile actually lol.  It was taken some time last year, and that is chocolate all over her face, Kira taught her if you hold your Easter eggs near the heater they melt and taste yummy, problem is, the mess left behind all over her face.  And after telling them several times not to, Bow walked into me and the conversation went a little like….

  • Bow did you melt your eggs in front of the heater again….
  • No……
  • Are you sure?….. 
  • Yes
I lifted her to the mirror, her face had BUSTED written all over it, then her cheeky grin.
WHAT I USED : I used a bit of this and that and OH that too.  Some Echo Park stickers, Amy Tangerine stickers and alphas, butterfly punch, wooden birds and stars from Studio Calico, Tape from Angie Delarie and other bits.  NOTICE the mustache I added the the old cobber, haha.  Very suiting if you as me?  They were in a bunch of things from Norma [thank you].

Smashing Sunday

I am feeling the mojo slowly coming back, and of course is does now that I have accounts to get done tomorrow for hubbie’s work, it always seems to work that way.

I had been a rather quite weekend, Kira has been sick for most of it with a cold, she’s dying apparently, hubby says the way she is acting reminds him of someone, hmmmm I wonder who that someone could be? Because when I am sick I really am dying.

Hub went out yesterday to visit a friend of his that has younger children and the two little ones went with him while Kira and I stayed at home, her on the couch sleeping off and on and me creating, cleaning, doing washing and updating my little online store Freckles and Pigtails HERE… We managed to watch about 5 movies back to back, Kira and myself that is, not a bad effort.

So I decided to finish my Amy Tangerine Daybook.  And I am pretty happy with myself that I actually finished it all the way through.  Some pages I found where not working and so I stuck them together to make pockets!  Cheating?  Maybe lol, but still has a purpose right? So this will be a little picture heavy, here we go.

And it’s bulkier than before.  But I plan on wrapping it up with some twine from The Twinery.

This is Heidi at her school for the Easter bonnet parade earlier this year.  She loved her hat and so she should I coped a really bad hot glue gun burn from that sucker!  Bunny images from Angie Delarie.

These were and experience I had when I went to Kristy’s the other month and they are so yummy!

I love this page, it took me a little to get it going but once it did, everything just came together.

Another doily yet, I liked the effect that I shown the other day in the hop that I decided to do it on the same pages.  This is Chloe at the Easter Bonnet Parade for Heidi mentioned above.

And of course this is me….

I loved the way this little area turned out.  I have always sung that section of the song to Chloe off and on since she was a baby.

Kristy and I again from when we were on the P&O Cruise.  Now this one I did strugle with, nothing was working, nothing was happening and then all of a sudden one right sticker and BAM.  The image is from Angie and was the PERFECT last touch!

Kira and I back in March or April I think.  We walked a few times this day with Pippa, she was a lot younger then and it was a perfect sunny day.

Throughout this entire book I used a lot of stickers from both Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy.  I used a lot of Angire Delarie Embellishments, Doilies [that is a given] and Alpha’s.  One thing I didn’t use a lot of was washi tape, which I was a little shocked by.  I loved using the pink glitter tape I got as a gift from the gorgeous Yani [thank you].

Funny thing was I was getting excited when almost done and needed a little break that I told hubby it basically has a bit of everyone in there, girls, food, Pippa, Kristy [of course we always have a photo op when we get together, not just the one either usually, lol] and Wyatt was meant to be in it but it didn’t work that way.  But non of hubby because he never likes his photo being taken, annoying much, lol!

This had absolutely no theme to it at all!  Some people make a theme, or they use it for a trip away etc.  But I didn’t want to have any pressure for my first one and it worked out well.

So there you have it, my complete daybook!  I now can’t wait to do another one already!  And I already have a plan on what to do and this time it will be a theme and I’m going to love it.  AND if you want to WIN your VERY own daybook just like this come along and hop with the SMASHING SISTERS, blog post HERE…

Smashing Sisters Seasons BLOG HOP…

Welcome to a blog hop about seasons.  Summer, winter, spring or autumn you are bound to see it all in this hop!  A few smashing girls and I have come together for a hop and in fact we now plan on doing so bi-monthly and decided on the name “smashing sisters” which if you ask me is pretty cute is it not?

I am number one in the hop so if you have started here, there is no need to back track and only go forward.  And oh did I mention yet that there are prizes that some of the girls are giving away too?  Smashing goodies and even a Martha Stewart PLANNER, OH yeah!  So first I will waffle a little, then share my pages and then share my giveaway and THEN share who is the next smashing sister on the hop…

So I have been on some what of a crafting drought, I am sure you might had noticed my lack of anything….  And I decided to give my Amy Tangerine Daybook – The Little Things a crack that someone sent me a while back.  I loved it so much I even bought another one thinking I would use them rather quickly…… That was MONTHS ago.  And also I ordered a bunch of photos from ummmmmmm bugger name what was the name, maybe instaprints?  Will look into that one.  But they are the size of an instax photo with instagram pictures.  I wasn’t a fan till I went and stuck them all in this here book, now I think I want more! So here is what I have done so far.  I went with a bright summer feel for my season… [SOME are blurry that is my bad for leaving this till last minute as usual and they will be replaced soon.  I also would had filed and painted my nails had I know I was going to be showing my fingers, lol]…

I actually thought being that I use a smash book a lot that this would be BULKY as anything when I started adding things and while it is, it still closes really well.

Page one is ME.  And I wanted to share the gorgeous pink camera by Angie Delarie who is another sister on the smashing sister team.

ME again, just a closer look at some of the things that I have used.

A page to soon replace, but this is my gorgeous girl Pippa.  She might had chewed another one of my shoes this morning making it now the 3rd pair [saying through gritted teeth] but I just can’t stay mad at her for very long, I actually think she is cluing on to that.

This was Bowzie at Heidi’s birthday party earlier this year in March and another that is blurry sorry :S  Amy Tangerine stickers came in handy with this even not being from the same release.

I seriously LOVE our balcony and everyone that comes up usually always comments on it.  Even people just dropping things off for hubby as I would had mentioned he is a sexy courier, hehe.

Was so proud this moment for my gorgeous little sister and her graduation of fashion.  It makes her think she knows how I should dress also, haha.

Keeping with early March here is Heidi on her birthday with her face painted as a cat.

Kira we are either trying to kill each other or laughing and pulling jokes.  This night it was pulling jokes and I just love this photo of her, she’s such a dag just like me!

This page is of my crazy sister and just as crazy daughter haha!  The little flower with a button was a gift from Yani who is alos on the hop.

I managed to use a lot of stickers, Angie Delarie Embellisgments, Amy Tangerine Sketchbook embellishments and bits and bobs as you can see from above.

I could waffle on and say this was meant to be posted Wednesday, BUT I SO AM, haha, you thought that was going somewhere else huh?  Being that it was Kira’s birthday I was just busy all day and night with family and friends coming over and then later that night my blog was down and then after I got it back up and running I had not just Kira’s friend here but then a friend of Bowzie’s and then a friend from a few houses up, so a house packed with kids and “teens”.  Then headache and so on and so on, if you read the post before hand then you already know how that panned out.  So this morning I went to post it and then thought I would leave it for today, so here it is.

Angie Delarie Products with new TEACHER…

So moving right along and trying to get back into the swing of things more, as in blogging, crafting and everything else in between.  Even washing, although I do avoid this as much as I possibly can, but it’s winter and the girls need clothes, haha.

Angie has been on FIRE lately and being on her team is rather exciting.  Angie is also pretty laid back and if you can, you can type of attitude, love her.  And her images are so quirky and different, so me.  And so when she showed me the new line coming I fell instantly in love with them.  And here is the new girl “Teacher” only I wanted to use her for the statement : – The World is Yours…

Want to hear why she is in shades of pink?  No, well skip forward then, lol…  I ran out of black ink, we have two printers, one is for accounts and what not the other is for my photos and digital images.   The one I use for accounts is impossible to get water colour paper in, I can but it takes forever and an almost broken printer.  After trying for 30 min I gave up and went to my other one in the hope that maybe it might just print this image, and it came out like this and I LOVED it.  So there is my little story behind the shades of pink image.  I know why not buy more ink?  I just keep forgetting till I have to print and that is usually always at night.And here is the tag pulled out with a instax photo of Bowzie on the swing at one of the parks here in Seymour…

How BIG and bulky is my mini smash book getting?  I think that when I finish it I may as well stick both the covers together and it can be displayed like that…

Smashing Sunday with Pilot Pierre…

Shhhhh do you hear that?  Nope, neither do I.  My girls have gone out to the in-laws farm and hubby and I have done nothing overly much but bum around and he is now out.  We relaxed on the couch and watched a movie that was on TV, why?  Because we could.  I mean SURE I could of done washing and SURE I could had cleaned, mopped etc, but WHO wants to actually do that?  I do that on a regular daily basis.  The girls as I would had mentioned are on school holidays, and while I love them all to death, even Kira with her whole “pre-teen” attitude, that can be un-bearable when she’s on school holidays, when they asked to have them for the day I almost had them dressed and ready there and then, only it was the night before, so might had been jumping that gun a little bit too quickly.
So I have downloaded some new music, as I do, made a cuppa and popped on my headphones and away I type to share with you another….
New SMASHing Sunday SmallSo this Sunday I am showing you not only a smash page, well actually pages, but a new image from Angie over at Angie Delarie Embellishments.  I think the new Pilot Pierre – HERE…. (is his name not cute).

The doily in the corner was from the page before, blogged HERE… I was going to cut it down but I liked the effect it had against the black.  And the black pages suited the photos of “The Black Train” it has been here for as long I have been living here and that is 20 years plus a few more.  And there is now a park behind it as well and the girls love going there and we were there just yesterday in fact for a few hours.  It was my plan to wear my girls out, it back fired……  I am going to attempt to try and list my supplies like I used to.  With smashing I use so much compared to when I was cardmaking that it’s not always easy to remember what came from where and not only that but the time it can take, but here goes….
