Smashing Sunday

I am feeling the mojo slowly coming back, and of course is does now that I have accounts to get done tomorrow for hubbie’s work, it always seems to work that way.

I had been a rather quite weekend, Kira has been sick for most of it with a cold, she’s dying apparently, hubby says the way she is acting reminds him of someone, hmmmm I wonder who that someone could be? Because when I am sick I really am dying.

Hub went out yesterday to visit a friend of his that has younger children and the two little ones went with him while Kira and I stayed at home, her on the couch sleeping off and on and me creating, cleaning, doing washing and updating my little online store Freckles and Pigtails HERE… We managed to watch about 5 movies back to back, Kira and myself that is, not a bad effort.

So I decided to finish my Amy Tangerine Daybook.  And I am pretty happy with myself that I actually finished it all the way through.  Some pages I found where not working and so I stuck them together to make pockets!  Cheating?  Maybe lol, but still has a purpose right? So this will be a little picture heavy, here we go.

And it’s bulkier than before.  But I plan on wrapping it up with some twine from The Twinery.

This is Heidi at her school for the Easter bonnet parade earlier this year.  She loved her hat and so she should I coped a really bad hot glue gun burn from that sucker!  Bunny images from Angie Delarie.

These were and experience I had when I went to Kristy’s the other month and they are so yummy!

I love this page, it took me a little to get it going but once it did, everything just came together.

Another doily yet, I liked the effect that I shown the other day in the hop that I decided to do it on the same pages.  This is Chloe at the Easter Bonnet Parade for Heidi mentioned above.

And of course this is me….

I loved the way this little area turned out.  I have always sung that section of the song to Chloe off and on since she was a baby.

Kristy and I again from when we were on the P&O Cruise.  Now this one I did strugle with, nothing was working, nothing was happening and then all of a sudden one right sticker and BAM.  The image is from Angie and was the PERFECT last touch!

Kira and I back in March or April I think.  We walked a few times this day with Pippa, she was a lot younger then and it was a perfect sunny day.

Throughout this entire book I used a lot of stickers from both Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy.  I used a lot of Angire Delarie Embellishments, Doilies [that is a given] and Alpha’s.  One thing I didn’t use a lot of was washi tape, which I was a little shocked by.  I loved using the pink glitter tape I got as a gift from the gorgeous Yani [thank you].

Funny thing was I was getting excited when almost done and needed a little break that I told hubby it basically has a bit of everyone in there, girls, food, Pippa, Kristy [of course we always have a photo op when we get together, not just the one either usually, lol] and Wyatt was meant to be in it but it didn’t work that way.  But non of hubby because he never likes his photo being taken, annoying much, lol!

This had absolutely no theme to it at all!  Some people make a theme, or they use it for a trip away etc.  But I didn’t want to have any pressure for my first one and it worked out well.

So there you have it, my complete daybook!  I now can’t wait to do another one already!  And I already have a plan on what to do and this time it will be a theme and I’m going to love it.  AND if you want to WIN your VERY own daybook just like this come along and hop with the SMASHING SISTERS, blog post HERE…

And don’t miss my giveaway HERE…

I hope you all have a FABULOUS week xx

Smashing Sunday with a NEW Look

I decided to give my blog a facelift.  It’s still in the new stages and at one point I did something that wiped the whole thing and went into FREAK out mode.  But I still need to tweak colours and what not, but decided to go with a 1 column sidebar for a while and see how I like it.  And best of all, no more comment issues.

Sunday is here down under and my laid back weekend didn’t quite go to plan.  Mind you I didn’t get up to all that much.  Hubby left Friday afternoon to go away for the night.  And the girls and I did our usual, dvd night and takeaway all so know as Macca’s night.  We were all in bed by 9pm?!  Although I was watching a DVD in bed and alseep before midnight I am pretty sure.  Heidi woke me not long after that, as she was being sick.  Poor girl was up and down all night and I was there right along beside her.  She stopped at about 10.30am but still was miserable all day.  THANK goodness she woke today all bubbley and happy, that’s my Heidi girl.  I am just hoping it’s not a bug that is now going to go through the house.  Not only because I HATE seeing my girls sick when I can do nothing, but also because we have my 30th this weekend and I am so looking forward to it and seeing family and friends.

SO now I don’t have any pages to share with you.  I have just not been in a smashing or crafting mood lately.  I have started to clean my craft room and you would had seen the pictures in my post yesterday, it’s a total mess, I mean like BAD mess, can’t see much of the floor mess.  But I have loved having a look through my scrapbooking again and seeing how much I miss it.  I love smashing, I call myself a “smashbooker” but might try scrapbook more too.

So I decided to share with you all my favourite photo apps on my i-phone as I get a few emails and questions on my facebook page on what I use and where I also get my photos printed. And also what camera’s I use and love.  So I decided to share it all with you in the one post. My favourite photo editing apps are…

  • Instagram – Like you all didn’t know that already.
  • Snapster – Mainly for the colour effect.
  • Pocketbooth – My girls and I love to play with this.
  • Pixfx – This is where I get the little light effects and more from.

I usually edit my photos in things like Picfix and Snapter and then always go and instagram it.  Instagram is almost like facebook only via pictures only.  I really love it and ALWAYS love the effect that I get and use them for scrapbooking and smashbooks.

Where do I get them printed is another question I get a lot.  I used to get them printed at an online store that closed down.  I was so bummed because the quality was always AMAZING.  Since then I have looked to find another perfect place.  I have used a few…

  • Persnickety Prints – Have used once and wasn’t happy with the quality.
  • Printstagram – These are cute, but still not overly what I am after.
  • Scrapping Simply – They do 4×4 and I have ordered twice and the quality it really good and I think I will be sticking with them from now on.  I have emailed to ask if they do 3×3 as it’s my prefered size and just awaiting a reply.  But they are FAST.

What camera’s do I use and love?  This one is simple and easy…

  • I-phone
  • Fuji Instax

Yep that is all.  I did have a digital camera but it started to break down, it had a good innings for 6 years.  And after I got my i-phone I just stopped using it as much.  I love my fuji for the instant photos and the use it right away.

So there you have it, all my little camera and photo secrets, well not really!

I must dash now as my SIL just rang and asked if I wanted to go to the movies with her this afternoon and we are going to see Magic Mike and I can’t wait.

xx

Smashing Sunday with Angie Delarie Rock-a-Billy Chick

I could waffle on and say this was meant to be posted Wednesday, BUT I SO AM, haha, you thought that was going somewhere else huh?  Being that it was Kira’s birthday I was just busy all day and night with family and friends coming over and then later that night my blog was down and then after I got it back up and running I had not just Kira’s friend here but then a friend of Bowzie’s and then a friend from a few houses up, so a house packed with kids and “teens”.  Then headache and so on and so on, if you read the post before hand then you already know how that panned out.  So this morning I went to post it and then thought I would leave it for today, so here it is.

New SMASHing Sunday Small

This Sunday I am showing you pages from my mini, YES, yet again.  One would think I would be finished by now, but I still have (goes off to count) ok so it’s 7, or if you want to get technical it’s 14.  I didn’t include the lama page as I just love that one the way it is.  And I am showcasing a gorgeous new image from Angie Delarie.

Supplies : – Page ONE : – Angie Delarie Digi “Rock-a-Billy” Chick, Doily, Instax Photo, Dear Lizzy button, Dear Lizzy Alpha, Studio Calico butterfly stickers, Amy Tangerine Sticker, White Doily, Dear Lizzy Flair Ribbons, Amy Tangerine Tape, Angie Delarie Image – Cassette tape. Have a great SUNDAY everyone xx.

Smashing Sunday… [Picture Heavy-ish...]

Well would you look at that it’s Sunday and I am posting my post.  Only I don’t have any pages to show you “per say” I decided to do another Smashing Sunday, where I share about a question I have been asked recently about SMASH* as I do get them a lot.  And I always love sharing my thoughts and ideas and help someone get into it.

And before I do start to waffle on as when I love a topic there is NO stopping me.  I do have to make a little side note that I do not claim in anyway to be a professional smasher (if there is such a thing, lol) and that I am in no way linked to the company.  These are all my own ideas and experiences…

What to smash - give a girl a blog - kellie winnell

I get asked this a LOT, because I know it can be quit daunting when you first start, all the pretty pages, you don’t want to cover them and your not sure what to smash about?  I like to call myself a smashbooker as I sort of smash and sort of scrapbook.

  • Do you hold onto tickets
  • What about birthday cards
  • I’m sure you all have bits and bobs
  • Or photos from your instax or had lying around.

Well then this could be the thing for you.  If you follow my blog then you would have seen all my SMASH* related posts, but if not then here is a link that will take you to check out all the posts linked to SMASH* HERE…. Do you want to scrapbook but never really done it before?  Then this is perfect.  You do not have to use a bunch of embellishments like you do if your a cardmaker or scrapbooker.  You could just stick the photos in, add some washi tape and jot down what happened and where.

I am going to share a range of older smashed pages to share with you some of the things you could smash about…

This is a smash page I did a while back.  Although it’s only a work in progress in this picture I wanted to share it to show that you don’t always have to smash about photos, or anything in particular.  This page is all about coffee as I love me a good coffee.  I smashed this in my pink smash book and was smashing this on the loungeroom floor while watching a DVD with the family.  I think that is something I love so much about smash booking as well.  I can grab a handful of things and only use them and it works.  YES they are my pj pants…

The above is one of my VERY first pages and done in my Blue smash book.  When I started I made the BIG mistake in trying to follow along with other people and not try and find my own style but mix the style of a few people I admire.  I say mistake because I look back on those pages and do not like them, they are not me.  BUT in saying that I wanted to show this page to show that YOU DO NOT have to use a range of embellishments all the time, a little note and washi tape and page DONE.  I smashed about a few things like the postal box was something we walked to every day, Balcony and view one of my favourite things, I wake to Heidi beside me almost daily (not so much anymore, my girl is growing up).  These are all little things, but little things I now wont forget about.  All photos were instagramed.

I really LOVED smashing the pages above.  I done these while sitting outside watching the girls play about on the trampoline and what not.  I wanted to smash that day I remember but I was stuck for an idea and then I looked on the table and these were all sitting on the table around me, and made perfect sense.  Again this page does not contain all that much of embellishment wise.

Journalling is always something that people find harder to do.  Some people love doing it and others are put off because they either don’t like their own hand writting (guilty) or they are worried that by doing so they will wreck their pages (guilty).  But I love looking back now and regardless of if I like my hand writing, it’s there and it adds a great personal touch.

Getting personal.  Some people start smashing and then they release it’s a great release for all the things you have been keeping in.  It almost becomes your journal of sorts and I have started to smash about a few personal things that occur in my life and it feels great when I look back over them.

Quick, simple and easy.  The above was just that.  Some people think that because you have smash book you have to fill every bit of the page, this is not true.  Some people like me only pop a little something there and over there and done.  It’s all about what you want to do and feel comfortable with.  Alpha’s are perfect to smash with.  Was smashed in my Blue smash book.

The mess myself and Kira make on the kitchen table when we are smashing.  Has nothing to do with showing ideas on what to smash about, I just wanted to warn that it can be messy, but it’s a smashing good time!

So there you have it, a little bit on what I smash about and why, that might help some of you finally dive into those books you are holding onto.

xx

UPDATE…

Well I am a little worried to post today.  As apparently my blog is playing up and opening for some and not for others and I am actually wondering if it’s some how connected to google or facebook as it’s the link coming from when people click facebook and then when google change their main google page my blog acts up for a few hours.  But I have the host looking into it and hope it can be fixed what ever it is.  It’s like something has attached itself to my blog, very annoying to say the least.  I have started another blog over in blogger for those that couldn’t see my blog.  I have been in contact with my host several times and it’s like they don’t want to help, annoying to say the least.

Because of this I have not wanted to blog until it was fixed, but seems it might take longer than I thought and save falling any further behind.  I had better start getting back on the blogging horse.

Smashing Sunday (2)

Over the weekends I have been hosting challenges for the facebook groups SMASH*aholics open and closed groups or you can keep up with our SMASH*aholics blog HERE…. And I did say challenges with an S.  I host 3 challenges all up and they run for 24 hours, all just for a bit of fun.  I decided to mix all three into one for my smash pages today.

Day 1 – Something Handmade

Day 2 – Photo

Day 3 – Must use all of the following – Washi Tape, Tag and Something Handmade.

Put all 3 challenges together and I got….

001

I smashed this in my mini, which I have to admit it’s becoming one of my favourites!  At start I have always thought it was cute, but never wanted to use it as it’s small-ness put me a little off.  Then one weekend I was SMASH*ing with Kira and I was not feeling very inspired at all, and then I ended up SMASH*ing 3 or well 6 pages in it that night.  Day 1 challenge – fabric covered flat back button made by me.  Day 2 challenge – Photo, I have two, one on the tag as well.  Day 3 challenge – Tag, Washi Tape and Handmade Crochet Flower given to me from Ingrid some time back. I was holding onto it as I just didn’t want to use it, so pretty but I am learning to USE the things I have and NOT keep them.

036

This is what my mini is looking like today and I have only smashed 7 pages or well 14….  And I still have 16 to go and I pulled 4 out because I found they weren’t very suiting to what I needed.

023

It almost stays half open haha.

I used a few things from kits that I have, some things from The Paper Bakery and then some from Studio Calico and then things from Polly Scrap Kits, so loads of use from kits that I have gotten last month.

The fabric flat back button is a new design coming to Freckles & Pigtails and I love the shabby feel.

I wasn’t going to add a linky like I usually do, with it not working for some but then thought, bugger it, I will add a linky to both!

Instagram Monday… LINK UP

Monday comes around far to quickly if you ask me.  But I do love Monday’s because the two school girls go to school and Bow goes to Kindergarten and I feel like I get a bit of me time and get to clean up and not turn around and it’s a mess again, that happens when they all get home, but at least I know what it looks like clean haha!

We had a rather busy weekend and lots of photo taking moments!  Heidi went to a birthday party and I wanted to get some photos of her before she left and it turned out to be loads of photos of all 3 girls.  Hubby was away all weekend and I wanted to be able to show him.

Funny thing about the cat basket, my mum dropped it off as she no longer needs it.  I mentioned it was ugly and that my boy wont use it and it will just take up space.  BLOW ME down he walked right into the lounge room, it was still on the coffee table, he jumped up, hopped in and went to sleep!  And has been using it everyday since……….  I haven’t told mum yet, I am not about to admit I was wrong, I’m not silly lol!

SO here it is…..

SMASH*ing Sunday…. LINK UP

I am running a bit late with this one and then in some countries surely it’s early?  I actually got a bit of smashing done over the weekend the only thing I didn’t get a lot of was sleep.  Hubby went away for the weekend and the girls and I had a great time but when they all went to bed and I didn’t have my “security blanket” I found it near impossible to sleep, 5.30am and still awake, both nights.

ANYWAYS we had three 24 hours challenges over at the Facebook group SMASH*aholics and it has been a BLAST.  Want to join us?  there is still time, one last challenge.  And if you check out the events page HERE…. it’s FULL of SMASH*ing inspiration!

I actually had 3 or well 6 pages to share but, forgot to get a decent daylight photo of them, so more pages to come this week.  But for now…

Smashing Sunday

I finally started to use my mini.  I have had this for as long as I can remember.  And I have watched my daughter Kira smash in it many times and I have loved what she does and in fact I am ordering 2 more for my little two as they both want smash books!  YES one very happy mumma here.  So here is what I did with the challenge of using either or all….

  • Journalling
  • Tabs
  • Doilies
  • Buttons

And I did them all…

318106_302615076491716_100002296778847_646505_517421365_n

This photo was taken at Kristy’s 30th, boy did we do some running around that day getting things ready and taking back lights because they didn’t work and all the rest.  But it was a great night, even if I did have to drive home at 4 am because I had started to get the flu but it went away so I thought and then I got hit x 5.  But I just love this photo.

Come and link up your old blog smash post or new blog smash posts, I love seeing them…

SMASH*ing Sunday with Angie Delarie NEW Digi Girl… LINK UP

Before I start my usual SMASH*ing Sunday post I just want to wish all the Mum’s a VERY Happy Mother’s Day.  I was so lucky to get scrambled eggs and a coffee bought to me in bed, no help from hubby at all, so sweet.  We are about to head out for a Mother’s Day dinner with my inlaws and we had a BBQ lucnh with my mum and aunt so I am just catching a little blog time….

I am using a new digital girl coming to Angie Delarie’s esty shop tomorrow!  I actually made two pages but I used another of these cute to boot girls and she is being released next week, so you will have to wait till my next SMASH*ing Sunday post.  But for now here is my page….

012

Chloe is FOREVER picking flowers and leaves for me from her kindergarten, if she goes for a walk with hubby she comes home with a leaf for me or a flower and I basically try and at least keep one.  I decided to smash one of the leaves.  And the photo if you look it’s the back of Chloe and she is holding a pink flower.  We took a walk to the postal box and she bough home a handful FULL of flowers.

I am really happy with how this turned out, at start nothing was coming together and I was starting to think I might have lost my SMASH* mojo. The flat back button is NEW and coming to Freckles & Pigtails. I decided to use a BUNCH of my NEW Amy Tangerine stickers and what not.

SMASH*ing Sunday

Today is not that bad down under SO FAR….  We have been experiencing some colder weather, but then being Autumn here that is expected, just up until last week people were still wearing shorts and a t-shirts on days.  This weather just didn’t want to get cold.  and don’t get me wrong I don’t love the cold, because it equals more washing lol, no really that is one point right there.  But I DO love it on a rainy weekend, on the odd occasions.  Which I think I have mentioned a few times before.  Means lazy DVD day, crafty day, family time.  Anyways a little side tracked there…

Time for another SMASH*ing Sunday post, which is lucky I smashed so many pages the other weekend as I got none done this weekend, I spent most of it cleaning or making things for the next release in Freckles & Pigtails.  So here is my…

SSunday

I am still in the process of making a take-able [is that even a word] badge so for now it’s back to my old and trusty, haha….

[WARNING - CONTAINS EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WITH TYPO POST IT]

011

So the travel theme pages in my red SMASH* book were always going to be about the cruise.  I actually did this while at Kristy’s house [girl in the photo with me and we went on a 10 day cruise last year together, AND we met through the world of blogging and crafts]…

013

I love the above photo, we took this not long after we boarded, straight to the bar for a cocktail to start the celebration of our 10 day adventure ahead.  We both have 3 kids and so we missed them like crazy.  But we still had so much fun and the food was amazing.  I do miss having someone come and clean our room, make our beds arrange my shoes and pull the sheets down for me, I know that much.

014

This is an up close of the NEW digi stamp over at Angie’s etsy store HERE…

[WARNING - CONTAINS EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WITH TYPO POST IT]

017

This page has my return plane ticket as we had to catch a plane to another state and then board the cruise from there.  It also has a picutre of our room or cabin for those 10 days.  Was funny because at start we would get so lost as they all look the same.  In fact I tried putting my key card into the wrong door one day, much to Kristy’s enjoyment.

COME ALONG AND LINK up with your SMASH* pages.  They don’t have to be new, that can be from last week. Or you have all week to link them up and share your SMASH* pages with us all….

SMASH*ing Sunday with April Showers…

Before I get into my post I am getting a little badge made up for all you SMASH* ladies and guys to take and pop on your blog when you join in, I have a linky always after my posts and you have all week to link along as I love checking out what other fellow SMASHers have been up to, and feel free to link to an old SMASH* post, no rules, link as much as you like!

I hope you are all having a great weekend so far, I know some of you are still only in Saturday, us Aussie’s are always ahead and I love it when it hits Friday but when it hits Sunday I do wish we were still back in Saturday haha….

So I actually got a load of SMASH*ing done last night/early morning.  Was up till 3am with hubby we got hooked into watching Sons of Anarchy season 2.  We finished season 1 last week and when I took it back and went there Friday night, as it’s a routine the girls and I have, I was surprised to see they had season 2 for hire.

Sorry I got a bit side tracked there……

So there is a NEW challenge over at Saturated Canary and you still have 3 days to enter….. So be sure to have a play with one of your Saturated Canary images this weekend and join us HERE….

I was running late with my design post so I decided to mix it with my SMASH*ing Sunday post.  I had an idea in mind but didn’t know how to get it going, then I sat down and it all flowed together and I love when that happens.  And here is what I SMASH*ed….

043

I think you can pretty much tell when you look at the image below that the frame was already stuck down when  I stamped the text stamp right?!  I thought it would stamp ok, regardless, HOW wrong was I huh!?  Once I was done I thought ugh bugger, but then I didn’t overly mind it.

037

Yup I left this page all but blank apart from a stamp I took of Kristy last weekend I think by unity, but don’t hold me to that.  I just didn’t feel the need to cover it, but thought the stamp was a cute little added extra that was all it needed.

038

If there was one thing I would change it would be the pen colour.  The blue was a bit too blue but sometimes I feel I need to change from the black that comes with the SMASH* journals.  I used the amazing image that I have had for some time and so wanted to use and the challenge was perfect for it called “Enjoy the Rain”. I got a divider off Kristy when I went and stayed for the night, I never thought they would be very useful and she didn’t even know what they were haha, but now I rather like them and of course HAVE to have them.  The flat back button and fabric yoyo are from my little store, Freckles & Pigtails.

Have a SMASH*ing day xx
