My Top 10 Crafty Creations for 2012

Before I get to my top 10. I have decided that it’s time to move on from this here blog. With the complications I am having with links and zip folders and what not. And no one really knowing why and wanting to start the new year in a good way, fresh! I thought really hard on this, but not overly long, because it just felt right, right away when the idea came to me. 2013 will bring a fresh start for me. And new blog, that I have been working hard on over the past few days. I will have more SOON.

I can’t believe I am at this time of year and doing this again. But it’s really is always so much fun to go back through my year and see how much I have grown. Well I like to think I have, haha. Here are my TOP 10 and I wrote a little something above each one. It’s almost 2013 here in Australia and that means it’s time to share my…

Way back in January 2012 in my card making days, this is one of my all time favourite cards that I made and I think it has absolutely everything to do with the image from Krista at Saturated Canary.

I don’t know why, but there is something whimsical about this smash page that makes it one of my favourites, because it’s so Heidi, so suiting. Using image from AngieDelarie.

This what a RE-SCRAP. You can find the blog post HERE… I took an old scrapbook page and re-scrapped it. It’s a photo of my mum and I and one that I have always just loved. She looks so hippy, just like me.

My first daybook that I completed and basically my only still. And I loved absolutely every moment of it and love getting it out to flick through. I had no theme, just added photos that I loved and made sure there was a bit of everyone. Amy Tan [Tangerine] is amazing and I was lucky to meet her and get her to sign this very daybook! Something I will now cherish forever.

I love my sister, would do anything for her. And I love when she comes to town for a weekend. It’s almost like she feels she can be her again. Not that is fake haha, but she gets to let down her hair and leave her stressful work life behind just for a little while and be a dag and an amazing aunty. One of my favourite smash pages to date and I think it’s mainly because of the photos of Bashy…

I love this layout. Am I aloud to say that? We should be proud of what we do! I got a mini kit from Jodie at Polka Dot Creative and while I was meant to be cooking dinner I kept coming back to this layout and it came together by the time dinner was on. It all just came together so well and I love the photo of my mini me and I.

This was one of my first 12 x 12 layouts that I done. It all came together so well and using Amy Tan products really does help, as they are so me! I love doing a clutter in a corner and paint spots around that, that is my style [lately]. This was a Design Team work for Polka Dot Creative.

I put this together to showcase my stamps and while I smudged the black ink spots and thought I wasn’t happy with it, the more I kept looking at it the more imperfectly perfect it was for my style.

Project Life didn’t play a BIG role in my life this year, not like I was hoping for. But it did play a part of it. 2013 is going to be different I can feel it. But till then I am still going to play catch up with 2012 and this week was done as part of a hop for Paper Issues and The Stamp Shop.

I made a few Christmas crafts and I actually wanted to list another 4, but of course I like them more so because they are my latest creations. This happened when I did this last year. i had to stop myself from wanting to pick all my latest crafts. I was so pleased with how this turned out. I am considering just leaving it there for the year on my door!

Christmas Memories Mini Hop

Horsing Around with Bashy

Well I used to do a “Smashing Sunday” every Sunday and to be honest I am not sure if I will do it again, just for the fact that I don’t “just” do smashing these days, but project life, scrapbooking, cardmaking and smashing as well as a little day booking here and there. Don’t get me wrong I am still going to blog about my sash pages, but most likely not on a regular basis.

Which brings me to a smash page I did early last week. of my daggy sister… And after seeing a crafty friend of mine, Karyn’s it was a great inspiration to use this page…

I used a bunch of things here, from October Afternoon, to Amy Tangerine and even Echo Park. Mostly stickers. Here is a little close up of the main page…

I also added the tag to hang in the middle you might had seen? On it is another of my sister sitting on our balcony when she was up last soaking in what a gorgeous day.

[I just wanted to show how long my little Pippa Dippa's ears are. That and she was aloud to sleep with us again and even last night as well, hubby really must be going soft].

LOVING : I am loving that I have caught up on my washing as of Wednesday and *touchwood* have stayed on top of it even today. Hubby asked if I was sick, OH he’s a comedian, right? It makes it easier having smaller loads that is for sure. Will I stay on top of it? I wont lie, probably not, but while I am, I am SO boosting about it.

READING : I just started a new book Wednesday night, Dirty Blood by Heather Hildenbrand. I had started reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood again and loving it, but wanted to have a little break from them. Do any of you get like that? When your reading a series you just need that little break? I read 4 of them in a row in a little over a week, still a few more to go.

WATCHING : Well I am watching my computer screen right now and these words being typed haha! But tonight is movie night where we go and hire DVDs and I want to get That’s My Boy and Rock of Ages…. Anyone seen them? Any good?

ANTICIPATING : Christmas….. COME on don’t tell me you haven’t all noticed how close it’s getting? I was even already thinking about getting a few crafty things to record our camping holiday over the holidays? I went and skipped Christmas and straight to holidays, haha, just goes to show how craft really does take over. And yes I do craft while camping, the guys find it hilarious at start, now they are used to it and try and find better lighting for me at night, haha. So really Kellie : 1 – Guys – 0, lol. I am trying this whole get organised thing, trial and error thing, more error than trial haha.

LISTENING TO :

PLANNING : FINALLY I don’t have to say planning on catching up with my washing, but look out for it next time haha. Instead getting more Christmas cards made over the weekend, a couple of smash pages, washing, cleaning, a week or two of my project life, play with my cameo [yet to do so] and stop eating peanut butter out of the jar – I type while having a spoon hanging out of mouth.

WORKING ON : This post, haha. I actually will be working on a photo frame idea over the weekend. Maybe a post coming during the week next week if it works out.

WISHING : That is was Summer. I know, I know I even shock myself when I say that. As I am a redhead and heat and I don’t overly mix, moody is a word I would use and even then I am being nice to myself, hahaha…. Mind you I don’t mean 40+, slap you in the face when you open the door, can’t breath, the fridge becomes the best seat in the house with the door closed [I don't really do this, I might had opened and stood in front of it a while longer than needed], and your ice-cream melts before you even get a lick. But you know warmer weather, it’s long over due and mother nature if your listening, I am more than ready when you are.

Instax & Smash all in the 1 Day…

This is what I love most about my instax. I can take a picture and smash it that very day. I did this earlier in the year with Heidi’s birthday, it was so much fun. I know some people have printers etc but for someone like me that doesn’t have a photo printer this is pretty exciting for me. OR better yet when your on the go!

Like over the weekend I went to Kristy’s house [her blog is HERE...] and of course I took my smash book and my instax. Funny I hadn’t smashed in months, but when I sort of had to for the smashing sisters hop, I am now getting back into it. I am trying the whole don’t over load on the embellishment or more so bulky, going ok, 3 pages in, haha, well 6 really, sort of, in a way. ANYWAYS my point to that waffle above is that I took some photos of the table we were crafting on and us together and smashed them that night.

Again DOILIES hello, not me without a doily, I really do try and not use them for something different but I can’t help it, not one but two haha. I am not doing much journalling in this as I do Project Life as well and think that there is enough journalling going on in there for memories, I know what to GO is and that is the main thing, haha.

Well time to get dinner together, I usually try and either schedule posts at night when the two little ones are asleep and Kira and I are bumming about watching TV, or in the morning after school drop off. But been a bit of a busy week this week. Hubby is off to cricket training after work and straight from there poker, so just me and my girls tonight. Might “try” and get a little crafty time in I think, that’s if the couch doesn’t win!

My Week Through Instragram

So this post has now posted three times including this one. I decided to schedule posts that I do every week so they were ready, trouble was, you should add to the post as well, it kinda helps?

So before you even ask or think, yes, yes I am going to back date so this looks like it posted on the Monday, why? Well because I can hahaha and I have to have it all in order.

I was having internet issues Sunday night, rang them Monday and turns out I thought it had been disconnected but it was actually the sim card in the USB stick, it wasn’t working, so went off and got a new one, rang the company [I got someone that loved to chat just as much as I did, and he was a laugh] to get it connected all good, wait 15 minutes…………waiting, waiting, waiting nothing. Figure I would go down the street do a few things come back, still nothing. Getting rather annoyed by now, not only did I have posts to do, I have accounts to get done [late-ish again, call me consistent?] Pull the stick out and re-start computer still nothing? I noticed the USB stick looked a bit bulky, figure I would re-insert the sim card, I look at the picture on the USB and realise I had the sim card in wrong…………………………………………..ooooooops! It happens also it was Monday, haha!

So anyways over the weekend I went and stayed at Kristy’s in Bacchus Marsh, most of you that read my blog would be sick of me saying, but we meet online ooooooooo sounds romantic huh, haha. And been close friends ever since. I took Kira with me as Kristy has a daughter around the same age, we are trying to push them into being friends like we are, KIDDING, but we did joke about it. Kristy has started blogging again, finally, after months of not blogging at all, you can check her out HERE…

I don’t think I really need to introduce you all anymore to my gorgeous nephew, I think he has now made an appearance more than once, twice, ok a few times. He is so adorable.
My food loves me and I sure did love it, haha!
Getting crafty at Kristy’s over the weekend, this was before the mess.
Pizza tower, this is how we roll, haha.
Pippa got to sleep with us. Usually I go to bed to read, and Pippa comes with me to snuggle, hubby comes to bed and puts her in her own bed, but he got in and said she could stay and I think she knew it too.
I got a new toy and still am yet to play with it as I want to have time to sit and play so this weekend coming look out!
I have never had a small coffee, but how cute is the cup!

Now onto my smashing page, it has been a while since I did a smash page, and it was fun to get back into it again, sometimes you forget just how much you miss doing something you hadn’t done in a while. I decided to use my Blue Retro Smash Book [I bought another one because I wasn't overly happy with my first smash attempts, it was the first book I used, WHAT? Don't act like you wouldn't do it too hehe!] All you Australian girls can get yours HERE… at Polka Dot Creative.

I had to do this page with that photo, it’s so funny and so matching that you would almost think I got Bowzie to pose just for this page, but nope I asked her to smile actually lol. It was taken some time last year, and that is chocolate all over her face, Kira taught her if you hold your Easter eggs near the heater they melt and taste yummy, problem is, the mess left behind all over her face. And after telling them several times not to, Bow walked into me and the conversation went a little like….

Bow did you melt your eggs in front of the heater again….
No……
Are you sure?…..
Yes

I lifted her to the mirror, her face had BUSTED written all over it, then her cheeky grin.

WHAT I USED : I used a bit of this and that and OH that too. Some Echo Park stickers, Amy Tangerine stickers and alphas, butterfly punch, wooden birds and stars from Studio Calico, Tape from Angie Delarie and other bits. NOTICE the mustache I added the the old cobber, haha. Very suiting if you as me? They were in a bunch of things from Norma [thank you].

31 Before 31

So last year I did this with 30 before I was 30 and managed to get about 20 out of 30 done. Mind you I did change some through out the time as life changes all the time and so does what I am into in the moment and what I am doing.

I have also decided to try and blog every time I accomplish something on my list below to try and help me keep on track.

I tell you it wasn’t easy trying to think up another list, let alone adding just another 1 haha, made all the difference. I didn’t go extreme, although doing the girls play room up and bedroom will be, but I love my craftroom and so I know I can do it. I have the most gorgeous bunk beds coming in November for Heidi and Chloe and so might try and get it done before then. It’s a “aim” and would make it easier.

SO here is my 31 before I am 31…

Learn to crochet [not completed on my 30 before 30]
Read 31 Books. [already read one over the weekend, one down 30 to go].
Finish a Smash* Book.
Start 52 weeks of Instax.
Paint the girls play room and add storage.
Take the girls to the Zoo. [hubby too, lol].
Raise and donate money before 31.
Paint girls bedroom and make it pretty and in order.
Continue with using my planner/diary through to 2013.
Do a AT Day Book or homemade daybook, based on the cruise I went on in 2011.
Do a “Week in the Life” either via Project Life, Smash* Book or Daybook.
Fill another 8.5″ X 11″ Scrapbook Album.
Do December Daily for 2012.
Get another tattoo.
Try and go out for dinner with our little family the first Monday of every month.
Bake a cake from ABSOLUTE scratch and an actual cake.
Go to a concert.
Take Kira to something movies, shopping etc at least once a month even if just out for lunch in Seymour to have some mother and daughter time being she is 13.
Have a HUGE clothes clean out. I have kept way to much that I never wear, let alone the girls. We all have way to many clothes and not enough storage.
Have my chilli plant still alive at 31, Tilli is still going strong [touch wood].
Knit all the girls a scarf before winter. REALLY do it this time.
Organise a birthday party for all my girls in 2013.
Pick a month and keep up with the “photo a day” that has been going around.
Keep making more of an effort to catch up with friends. At least once a month for dinner, lunch etc. More if possible.
Continue training my baby girl Pippa.
Help out at the Kindergarten a few more times, at least 3, being that Bowzie wont be there next year and she will be a BIG girl in prep.
Have caught up with all of hubbie’s book work and on track by time I am 31. WAY before then would be even better.
Get the front garden in a little more order, weeds are not plants or exotic flowers no matter how much I tell myself.
To continue on with above, same goes for the little back garden we have.
Start a vegie patch. Hubby has always wanted one. Peas, strawberries, carrots and at least another fruit/vegie for it to count.
Make a card a month, doesn’t have to have images but just to have a card on hand for birthdays etc as I don’t overly make them anymore and wouldn’t mind having some.

So there is my 31 before I am 31. Wish me luck, I am determined this time and might even print it out and stick it all over the place lol! Either ways I WILL have everything ticked off this list. xx
