My Top 10 Crafty Creations for 2012

New Blog

Before I get to my top 10.  I have decided that it’s time to move on from this here blog.  With the complications I am having with links and zip folders and what not. And no one really knowing why and wanting to start the new year in a good way, fresh!  I thought really hard on this, but not overly long, because it just felt right, right away when the idea came to me.  2013 will bring a fresh start for me.  And new blog, that I have been working hard on over the past few days.  I will have more SOON.

I can’t believe I am at this time of year and doing this again.  But it’s really is always so much fun to go back through my year and see how much I have grown.  Well I like to think I have, haha.  Here are my TOP 10 and I wrote a little something above each one. It’s almost 2013 here in Australia and that means it’s time to share my…

Top 10Way back in January 2012 in my card making days, this is one of my all time favourite cards that I made and I think it has absolutely everything to do with the image from Krista at Saturated Canary.

Jan

I don’t know why, but there is something whimsical about this smash page that makes it one of my favourites, because it’s so Heidi, so suiting.  Using image from AngieDelarie.

APRILThis what a RE-SCRAP.  You can find the blog post HERE…  I took an old scrapbook page and re-scrapped it.  It’s a photo of my mum and I and one that I have always just loved.  She looks so hippy, just like me.

AUGUSTMy first daybook that I completed and basically my only still.  And I loved absolutely every moment of it and love getting it out to flick through.  I had no theme, just added photos that I loved and made sure there was a bit of everyone.  Amy Tan [Tangerine] is amazing and I was lucky to meet her and get her to sign this very daybook!  Something I will now cherish forever.

029I love my sister, would do anything for her.  And I love when she comes to town for a weekend.  It’s almost like she feels she can be her again.  Not that is fake haha, but she gets to let down her hair and leave her stressful work life behind just for a little while and be a dag and an amazing aunty.  One of my favourite smash pages to date and I think it’s mainly because of the photos of Bashy…

I love this layout.  Am I aloud to say that?  We should be proud of what we do!  I got a mini kit from Jodie at Polka Dot Creative and while I was meant to be cooking dinner I kept coming back to this layout and it came together by the time dinner was on.  It all just came together so well and I love the photo of my mini me and I.

OCT1This was one of my first 12 x 12 layouts that I done.  It all came together so well and using Amy Tan products really does help, as they are so me!  I love doing a clutter in a corner and paint spots around that, that is my style [lately].  This was a Design Team work for Polka Dot Creative.

NOV2

I put this together to showcase my stamps and while I smudged the black ink spots and thought I wasn’t happy with it, the more I kept looking at it the more imperfectly perfect it was for my style.

Project Life didn’t play a BIG role in my life this year, not like I was hoping for.  But it did play a part of it.  2013 is going to be different I can feel it.  But till then I am still going to play catch up with 2012 and this week was done as part of a hop for Paper Issues and The Stamp Shop.

DECI made a few Christmas crafts and I actually wanted to list another 4, but of course I like them more so because they are my latest creations.  This happened when I did this last year.  i had to stop myself from wanting to pick all my latest crafts.  I was so pleased with how this turned out.  I am considering just leaving it there for the year on my door!

[I just wanted to show how long my little Pippa Dippa's ears are.  That and she was aloud to sleep with us again and even last night as well, hubby really must be going soft].

LOVING : I am loving that I have caught up on my washing as of Wednesday and *touchwood* have stayed on top of it even today. Hubby asked if I was sick, OH he’s a comedian, right?  It makes it easier having smaller loads that is for sure.  Will I stay on top of it?  I wont lie, probably not, but while I am, I am SO boosting about it.

READING : I just started a new book Wednesday night, Dirty Blood by Heather Hildenbrand.  I had started reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood again and loving it, but wanted to have a little break from them.  Do any of you get like that?  When your reading a series you just need that little break?  I read 4 of them in a row in a little over a week, still a few more to go.

WATCHING : Well I am watching my computer screen right now and these words being typed haha!  But tonight is movie night where we go and hire DVDs and I want to get That’s My Boy and Rock of Ages…. Anyone seen them?  Any good?

ANTICIPATING : Christmas….. COME on don’t tell me you haven’t all noticed how close it’s getting?  I was even already thinking about getting a few crafty things to record our camping holiday over the holidays?  I went and skipped Christmas and straight to holidays, haha, just goes to show how craft really does take over.  And yes I do craft while camping, the guys find it hilarious at start, now they are used to it and try and find better lighting for me at night, haha.  So really Kellie : 1 – Guys – 0, lol.  I am trying this whole get organised thing, trial and error thing, more error than trial haha.

LISTENING TO :

PLANNING : FINALLY I don’t have to say planning on catching up with my washing, but look out for it next time haha.  Instead getting more Christmas cards made over the weekend, a couple of smash pages, washing, cleaning, a week or two of my project life, play with my cameo [yet to do so] and stop eating peanut butter out of the jar – I type while having a spoon hanging out of mouth.

WORKING ON :  This post, haha.  I actually will be working on a photo frame idea over the weekend.  Maybe a post coming during the week next week if it works out.

WISHING : That is was Summer.  I know, I know I even shock myself when I say that.  As I am a redhead and heat and I don’t overly mix, moody is a word I would use and even then I am being nice to myself, hahaha…. Mind you I don’t mean 40+, slap you in the face when you open the door, can’t breath, the fridge becomes the best seat in the house with the door closed [I don't really do this, I might had opened and stood in front of it a while longer than needed], and your ice-cream melts before you even get a lick.  But you know warmer weather, it’s long over due and mother nature if your listening, I am more than ready when you are.

What are you CURRENTLY doing?  If you do a post be sure to link in the comments so I can come along and check it out.  I’m nosy like that haha, kidding I just like getting to know people more.

Project Life Week 13

So another back dated post, today is the day that I get all caught up before having a 101 other things to get done around here and being that the day is rather nice I want to get them done so I can take Bowzie for a walk down the street.  Heidi has gone off to work with hubby for the day and Kira, well she is in bed and will be till who know when, teenager?

So I am here with my week 13, yes I did skip week 12, I couldn’t even just do one page, like I have for 13.  I didn’t take any photos which is unusual for me, and I didn’t get up to all that much either, the usual and a quite weekend.

A one page week, this is making it easier for me to get caught up, but of course as each week goes by, I am behind another week.  I will see the light soon, haha.

This week was the last week before Easter school holidays.  I used a bunch of things for this with a mix of papers from Echo Park and Sassafras Lass.  This week my gorgeous nephew was born and the day before Jess’s baby shower, he just couldn’t wait any longer.  I was parent help at the kindergarten and we made hot cross buns that were so yummy and so much fun!   I have to admit I love the effect of the chipboard picked fence I’ve had for a long time, I painted it white and it just seem to finish off that section with Kira and Pippa.  I didn’t do much journalling as I feel the photos speak for themselves in many ways.

Time to get working on week 14 I think, have it all laid out, just need to journal and embellish a little, I can’t help myself!

Project Life Week 11

Another Tuesday and I am still keeping up with the blogging, actually if I want to be really honest I sat and scheduled 3 of these to try and keep up as I was doing the pages and not blogging them in time and then I would go and edit it just before the post goes up to make sure I didn’t miss anything and to add in bits and bobs if I had to.  Sometimes life gets busy and blogging can often take up a bit of my time.  After re-size things, looking up links and what not and waffle on, an hour or more can go by, and there goes that, I’ll just sit and do a quick post………….RIGHT out the window!  I love that you can schedule things in the blogging world!

WEEK ELEVEN :

I love this, for the fact that I did something different.  I did sort of do one week per page but at the same time not.  I had too many photos to try and do one page for the week and so I used the design by Becky Higgins DESIGN I and think it adds that little something different.  I used a range once again of Dear Lizzy, Amy Tangerine and a mixture of other things, the fabric buttons are by ME [coming soon]…

I actually got my first stamp subscription that I signed up for from Ali Edwards, and I wanted to use as much as I could and ended up using 4 from the set.  Not bad considering I usually buy stamp sets and let them sit on my desk for weeks, sometimes even months.  But I am really trying once I get a set to use it as much as I can.  Even if I don’t use it for a while after that, at least I got some use out of it right away.

xx

Project Life Week 10

I am keeping up, even if this post did go up without pictures haha!  But before I get to week 10 [will I ever catch up?] I just wanted to share a photo from last night, Kira played in the netball grandfinal and WON…. Note her looking at me, haha!

Now week 10 was a busy one for us so no two weeks this time.  We had Heidi’s birthday and birthday party, and it was a long weekend, even BETTER.

WEEK TEN :

I used a colour theme, but not at the same time.  Basically I went for a bit of pink and green.  And my little secret is that I actually had run out of R in that style of Amy Tangerine Alpha’s and so I got a P and I and made one myself haha! One of the pin wheels was one I made myself but used on another crafting project no longer needed and so it was perfect for my page as well as the one by Dear Lizzy, perfect for the birthday theme.  once I again I really did use a wide range and some items I received from the gorgeous Cathy!

It was a little hard to go from doing two weeks per layout to 1 week, but then not with the amount of photos I had.  I am really loving journalling too.  Still don’t like my handwriting but like the fact that it’s there, if that makes any sense at all?!

xx

Project Life Week 8 and 9

Well another one week per page way of doing Project Life.  I have to admit this has made it a LOT easier to try and get caught up.  Only now I need to catch up with the blogging.  I have done up to week 11 to date and am skipping week 12 as I had absolutely NO photos and didn’t have all that much on that week.  Time to get to my pages…

WEEK EIGHT :

I was really happy with the way this page turned out.  I once again used a bunch of my fabric washi tape, love that stuff!  Some Amy Tangerine, Dear Lizzy and a mix of this and that.

WEEK NINE :

This week I got my instax wide and was so happy with it!  We also started using out back porch a lot more to eat dinner and what not, I even started crafting out there as I just seemed to get so inspired while being in the fresh air.  Again I used some of my fabric washi tape, Amy Tangerine stickers and stamps as well as alpha’s, some Dear Lizzy papers and other bits and bobs.  Wouldn’t be me without the use of a doily right?

So now I still behind and almost done March, but I am still determined to get there, slowly but surely I will!  Well I think, haha, it’s a goal! xx

Project Life Week 6 and 7

Is what I have been doing of a night lately.  And I am enjoying looking back on our life from the beginning of the year and how much the girls have grown and changed and everything in between.

So a girl that is apart of the Project Life group I am in Maarja, showed us that she had done  one week on one page and the next week of the facing page, because they were small weeks.  I loved the idea and never thought to do that and to be honest makes it easier because I am rather forgetful and thankfully my blog and facebook have helped me put the bits and bobs together.

So here is my week 6 on the one page….

So for this week I used a bunch of the following, Elle’s Studio 4×6 tags, PL grid cards, washi fabric tape, washi tape, Amy Tangerine and I use a heck of a lot of stamps from a stamp set called Studio Calico – Heyday stamp set…

Week 7

Week 7 wasn’t overly the best week for me, my little dog Bruno passed away due to a snake bite and I had to be the one to make the decision.  He was in so much pain and had seizure after seizure, I would not wish it upon anyone what he must had been going through, so a very as you could imagine quite week.

I used again some stamps from the Studio Calico stamp set Heyday.  Some Dear Lizzy paper, again Elle’s Studio 4×6 tags, washi fabric tape, grey chevron bag sold by me HERE… I got the HELLO bubble from HERE…  Doily, Amy Tangerine stamps and over little bits and bobs.

Best get back to my mounting housework xx

Project Life Week 5

Well after all the waffling on about it I have finally enough photos and an idea of what happened where to get back into it.  It’s going to take time, with about 26 weeks to go and then of course the more I do another week will pass haha!  But I am determined, have you ever seen a determined redhead?

I decided to stamp out some of the Becky Higgin’s grid journalling cards the other week while watching Underbelly with hubby and I also made my own 4 x 6 using a Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper pad.  Here is the result….

So on page one I used a mix of Becky Higgins cards that I stamped with stamps mainly from Amy Tangerine line Sketchbook.  And added a few embellishments, some I made myself and selling soon.

On the second page I also used a Elle Studio card in the corner and the rest were all made using the Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper pad.  I even used a mini paper bag and pulled out the tag to show what was hiding inside.

And here it is layed out.  Unfortunately the day is not so nice and while I usually get really good over cast photos, it just wasn’t happening today.

Now to get moving onto the next few weeks.

AND guess who I am going to meet tomorrow?!  Amy Tan [Tangerine] I am so excited!  I wasn’t going to because of my cold as I mentioned yesterday but hubby said I would be crazy not to, he knows I like her and her products.  So I am going to go!

Have a great weekend with what ever you do xx
