My Top 10 Crafty Creations for 2012

New Blog

Before I get to my top 10.  I have decided that it’s time to move on from this here blog.  With the complications I am having with links and zip folders and what not. And no one really knowing why and wanting to start the new year in a good way, fresh!  I thought really hard on this, but not overly long, because it just felt right, right away when the idea came to me.  2013 will bring a fresh start for me.  And new blog, that I have been working hard on over the past few days.  I will have more SOON.

I can’t believe I am at this time of year and doing this again.  But it’s really is always so much fun to go back through my year and see how much I have grown.  Well I like to think I have, haha.  Here are my TOP 10 and I wrote a little something above each one. It’s almost 2013 here in Australia and that means it’s time to share my…

Top 10Way back in January 2012 in my card making days, this is one of my all time favourite cards that I made and I think it has absolutely everything to do with the image from Krista at Saturated Canary.

Jan

I don’t know why, but there is something whimsical about this smash page that makes it one of my favourites, because it’s so Heidi, so suiting.  Using image from AngieDelarie.

APRILThis what a RE-SCRAP.  You can find the blog post HERE…  I took an old scrapbook page and re-scrapped it.  It’s a photo of my mum and I and one that I have always just loved.  She looks so hippy, just like me.

AUGUSTMy first daybook that I completed and basically my only still.  And I loved absolutely every moment of it and love getting it out to flick through.  I had no theme, just added photos that I loved and made sure there was a bit of everyone.  Amy Tan [Tangerine] is amazing and I was lucky to meet her and get her to sign this very daybook!  Something I will now cherish forever.

029I love my sister, would do anything for her.  And I love when she comes to town for a weekend.  It’s almost like she feels she can be her again.  Not that is fake haha, but she gets to let down her hair and leave her stressful work life behind just for a little while and be a dag and an amazing aunty.  One of my favourite smash pages to date and I think it’s mainly because of the photos of Bashy…

OCT

I love this layout.  Am I aloud to say that?  We should be proud of what we do!  I got a mini kit from Jodie at Polka Dot Creative and while I was meant to be cooking dinner I kept coming back to this layout and it came together by the time dinner was on.  It all just came together so well and I love the photo of my mini me and I.

OCT1This was one of my first 12 x 12 layouts that I done.  It all came together so well and using Amy Tan products really does help, as they are so me!  I love doing a clutter in a corner and paint spots around that, that is my style [lately].  This was a Design Team work for Polka Dot Creative.

NOV2

I put this together to showcase my stamps and while I smudged the black ink spots and thought I wasn’t happy with it, the more I kept looking at it the more imperfectly perfect it was for my style.

NOV

Project Life didn’t play a BIG role in my life this year, not like I was hoping for.  But it did play a part of it.  2013 is going to be different I can feel it.  But till then I am still going to play catch up with 2012 and this week was done as part of a hop for Paper Issues and The Stamp Shop.

DECI made a few Christmas crafts and I actually wanted to list another 4, but of course I like them more so because they are my latest creations.  This happened when I did this last year.  i had to stop myself from wanting to pick all my latest crafts.  I was so pleased with how this turned out.  I am considering just leaving it there for the year on my door!

There you have it my top 10.  So what are your top 10?  If you do a post or already did a post, why not come along and link them up to the linky below and check out other people’s top 10.  Nothing like a burst of inspiration for the new year.

DIY Effective Christmas Ornaments

004This is where I sat almost all of yesterday.  I dragged a table from the front balcony [that we had gotten out for Christmas lunch] to the back, while everyone else was sleeping in, so that I could sit outside and work. And it was so amazing, that I was in and out and there when it got dark.  I am frantically working on a few things as well as enjoying the summer holidays with my family that I adore.  I have so many things planned that I feel like I am over whelmed with ideas in a really, really GREAT way.

So the other week I posted the black board looking ornaments.  Which then had me looking at the other ornaments on our tree.  That was dying slowly, apparently your meant to put water in the bottom thing they get you to buy that holds your tree up, you all know what I mean?  NOW before you laugh, we have never had a ‘real’ tree before, so this was all new to me, and clearly the people we bought from could see this, as I think I made my confused face a few times, which could almost be mistaken for my bored face I guess, so I can see where their confusion came from, in not telling me, that my tree would need water, in order to slowly die and therefore not wither all over my carpet, badly! My sister [younger than me and also has a real tree] found it hilarious that I didn’t know it would need water. I have flowers on the odd occasion in my house, never last long, but not once can I honestly say I have had a tree in my house.

008

So with that aside.  The ornaments I already had on the tree didn’t really match in with the new blackboard looking ornaments.  I think we have had the old ornaments since hubby and I moved in together.  Actually I tell a lie, the year after.  As the first year I went with purple and silver and ever since have been a red, gold and green sort of Christmas girl.  So the girls helped me and then got bored quickly as they do.  Look I wont lie, I tend to take over.  I can’t help it, the perfection in me comes out, I wish it would with my house work.

007

WHAT I USED :

Glass ornaments, skewers, hot glue gun, mini bottle brush Christmas tree, fake snow, glitter and sequins.

I found this blog post HERE… that really helped me with how to put the trees in, but let me say you have to be more than just fast, like super fast, like speedy Gonzales fast.  At the end of the day some weren’t perfectly places but when I broke one, I got over it and just let them stick where they were.  I then put in some fake snow that I bought from my local cheap shop, along with a little glitter and sequins.

009

I then decided to get my burlap that I love out.  I bought some foam balls and had no idea what I was going to do with them and then decided to to cut the burlap and wrap it around.

002

WHAT I USED :

Burlap, hot glue gun, foam ball, decorative pins and hemp twine.

I then used a crystal looking pin that I have had a bunch of for so long and almost threw them out when I cleaned my craftroom last time.  So glad that I didn’t.  And a little hemp twine that I pinned the pin through to use to then hang the ornament with.

004

WHO said you can only use cookie cutters for baking?  I bought a jar full of Christmas themed cookie cutters all red with intentions of baking, OH how I make myself laugh.  ME baking, haha.  Any ways they made GREAT ornaments.  And it was only $10 for about 8 or was it 10.  We used a star, ginger bread man and a tree.

009

And if all else fails, candy canes look amazing and you buy a box of usually 12 to 20 for under $3.  Only it seems mine kept going missing, hmmmm I wonder, I wonder…….

So there you have it.  Some quick ways to make some effective Christmas decorations without breaking the bank and best of all.  My guess is people will love them and ask you all about them, and when your a crafter, who doesn’t love talking about what they made?

Handmade Snowglobes

Before I get down to this post I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.  Almost time to bring in the new year, scary how fast things go by, is it not?  During the year, you are always looking forward to something, a birthday, event, wedding, birth etc.  Then it finally comes and goes, then you are already looking forward to another event.  Before you know it Christmas is coming along again.  Then you sit and wonder, where did the year go?

I was planning on getting a few posts done over the past couple of days after Christmas.  Clearly this didn’t happen.  Instead I have been working on something else to come in the New Year.  It’s a little harder than I thought it would be, but hopefully will be all worth it.

Top 10

Don’t forget to come back on the 31st and link up your blog post with your top 10 favourite craft creations for the year of 2012.  I have been going back over mine and it’s so much fun to see how much you grow, well I like to think I have.

So a few days before Christmas I decided to get all the Christmas decorations made.  It’s a miracle I did them then and not after Christmas.  I showed you all the other day the wreath that I made and must admit, love.  Perfectly me, almost like craft with a hint of white/cream and being the colour my door is, perfect match.  I am thinking I might try make another one, less Christmas just for all year round.

I loved looking around pinterest for Christmas ideas.  I must admit I have always looked at pinterest every now and then, but never really got the whole addiction to it, till now that is.  When I came across some of the snowglobe ideas I was in love.  So with a couple of days to go this is what “in the making” looks like..

054edf850c04fb111e2a50222000a1fb870_7WHAT I USED :

  • Mason jar and other [jam] jar [that I picked up at our local cheap shop].
  • Fake snow, picked p a bag for $2.00 at my local cheap shop.
  • Clear and pink sequins.
  • Melissa Frances Bottle Brush Trees, that I picked up HERE.. [international postage was only about $4.00 for two packets, which was great].
  • Glittler [any will do, I used some I picked up from Spotlight].
  • Hot Glue Gun [my crafty friend, that loves to burn me].
  • Chipboard [could use other material]

TIPS : Now the one thing I did learn when using the mason jars, was that you can’t just hot glue the trees to the lid and pop in the snow, glitter and sequins, oh no, no, no.  WHY? Because it will cover the trees and you can barely see them at all.  You need to raise them up.  I used cut up chipboard glued together till I reached a hight I was happy with.  You wont see it at all, as the snow and glitter and all the rest will cover the chipboard or any material you use.  I only use chipboard because it was all I could think to use and material I had on hand.  When you do them like I have in the jam jar this is not necessary, although what I did do was still hot glue the trees to a bit of chipboard and then hot glue them into the jar.  Just so that I liked the placing of the trees.

I’ll be back with more Christmas DIY Projects SOON.

Making my own Burlap Wreath

Hubby is officially on holidays and already I am loving it.  It means late nights, sleep ins, or so I thought, both mornings so far I have woken at about 7am [I struggle to do that on a school morning, while even going to bed at a [semi] reasonable hour], and can’t for the love of sleep, GO back to sleep.  This is DANGEROUS people, dangerous I tell you all, why?  Well I may or may not have broken our dishwasher…..  THE dishwasher!  I mean we may as well put the house on sale now, or you know get it fixed.  It still ‘could’ be ok, but I don’t hold out hope, luck has never been a strong point for hubby and I.  You see I popped some things in, put some dish washing liquid in, when I have a lot of glass, I find it cleans them better, call me CRAZY.  I walked away cleaning a few more things, came back, put a few plates in and what not and then………….a dish washing tablet!  SEE this is what happens when your brain is still asleep.  It started making a funny noise and I opened it to BUBBLE overload, thought it looked amazing, but then a light was flashing and now it’s doing nothing!  I have googled and most say to turn them off for a long period of time and let so and so drain blah blah ‘guy talk’ blah blah.  I am hoping my father in law might know a little about it when he comes over Christmas day, but geez I really hope it would be working by then.  Or we are going to be eating off paper plates, hahaha.

It’s hot out and I have done all the washing and still need to do a bit more around the house but you know, it’s not going anywhere.

I thought I would try and get some of my Christmas posts up.  I don’t have long now huh?  I have been making things and LOVING it.  But getting time to get them posted is another story!

I bought a foam wreath from spotlight a while back, I can’t remember the cost but think it was in between $8-$15.  In fact maybe I bought it back in October, or even before then.  I am just trying to think as it would be a time I went to the movies.  Oh well, regardless I had it for a while.  Looked through pinerest for ideas and nothing was really taking my fancy.  Then while cleaning my craftroom I found a package of burlap that I ordered yonks ago.  You can pick this up from anywhere between $5 to $30 depending on how much you require.

8277bcac3d3a11e2a3d822000a1f9be5_7

All I did was cut the burlap into strips and wrap them around, once that bit came to an end I would get another strip and start over the one that I just ended to secure it in.  No glue used till the very end, where I used my hot glue gun.

7872f0463d3f11e29a9c22000a1fbe09_7

I was really pleased with the end result…………But then what?  I had a few ideas, played with a few things and nothing once again was sticking out to me as DONE, LOVE IT.  A trip to the cheap shop here for a few supplies for another project I was working on and seen the star decoration.  I paid about $2-$4 for the star I am pretty sure.

b082f38e4b2011e282a722000a1f9d5f_7

I used some berry looking things that I have had once again for a while in my Christmas pile.  Some twill ribbon and I’m all done….  and I just love the effect and for me it’s perfect.

Did you make your own wreath?  I would love if you could share it with me.

Chalk Board Paint, Twinery, Sticks to make Christmas Ornaments

Wooden Stars

I have been looking about for ideas on Christmas decorations and there are so many amazing ideas out there, hard to narrow down what to try.  While we are having a small family gathering at our house this year on Christmas day, with both my parents and hubby’s along with my sister.  I still want to make it rather special.

Since painting the girls door with chalkboard paint I had a little left over. I love the effect it can give.  So I decided to give making chalk board Christmas ornaments a go.  I bought a couple of Kaiser Craft shapes when I took the girls to see Santa and see the movie The Rise of the Guardians over the past weekend at Spotlight.

WHAT YOU NEED :

  • Wooden Shapes or MDF
  • Chalk Board Paint [sure black paint would work]
  • White Gel Pen
  • White Ink Pad
  • Twigs [I just walked out and gathered some from the yard]
  • Twine from The Twinery
  • Craft Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun [if you have strong craft glue then wont need hot glue gun].
  • Studio Calico Wooden Stars
  • Raffia

Also while searching, I came across this blog with these cute twig Christmas trees HERE…  I actually made them not intending to use them with the ornaments.Wooden Christmas TreesTwo circles and two stars all painted in chalk board paint and ready to decorate.
Painted Ornament

I grabbed my set of stamps Christmas Time is Beaut [you can PRE-ORDER yours HERE...]  And my Whisper White Stampin’ Up! ink that I was shocked I still had and my white gel pen.

White Gel Pen

After stamping I would smudge the ink a little just with my finger before it had set and dried to give it more of a chalkboard look.  And I used the white gel pen to give a boarder.

Christmas Time is Beaut

I used some Twine from The Twinery, colours Strawberry and Seaweed.  I am pretty sure they are my favourite colours at the moment, next to the Platinum Shimmer and Gold Shimmer.  I wrapped them around two of the trees and added some raffia and Studio Calico wooden stars and there you have it, simple, yet great looking Christmas tree ornaments.

Christmas Ornaments

I have more ideas on how to use things like this, that I will be blogging soon.  And just so you know I am sure normal black paint would work just as well.

Top 10 2012

I will soon be blogging my top 10 craft creations for 2012 and will have a link for everyone to join in.  I can’t wait to see what you all pick for your top 10.  It was so much FUN last year, that I have been looking forward to it for a while now.

Currently…

[I just wanted to show how long my little Pippa Dippa's ears are.  That and she was aloud to sleep with us again and even last night as well, hubby really must be going soft].

LOVING : I am loving that I have caught up on my washing as of Wednesday and *touchwood* have stayed on top of it even today. Hubby asked if I was sick, OH he’s a comedian, right?  It makes it easier having smaller loads that is for sure.  Will I stay on top of it?  I wont lie, probably not, but while I am, I am SO boosting about it.

READING : I just started a new book Wednesday night, Dirty Blood by Heather Hildenbrand.  I had started reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood again and loving it, but wanted to have a little break from them.  Do any of you get like that?  When your reading a series you just need that little break?  I read 4 of them in a row in a little over a week, still a few more to go.

WATCHING : Well I am watching my computer screen right now and these words being typed haha!  But tonight is movie night where we go and hire DVDs and I want to get That’s My Boy and Rock of Ages…. Anyone seen them?  Any good?

ANTICIPATING : Christmas….. COME on don’t tell me you haven’t all noticed how close it’s getting?  I was even already thinking about getting a few crafty things to record our camping holiday over the holidays?  I went and skipped Christmas and straight to holidays, haha, just goes to show how craft really does take over.  And yes I do craft while camping, the guys find it hilarious at start, now they are used to it and try and find better lighting for me at night, haha.  So really Kellie : 1 – Guys – 0, lol.  I am trying this whole get organised thing, trial and error thing, more error than trial haha.

LISTENING TO :

PLANNING : FINALLY I don’t have to say planning on catching up with my washing, but look out for it next time haha.  Instead getting more Christmas cards made over the weekend, a couple of smash pages, washing, cleaning, a week or two of my project life, play with my cameo [yet to do so] and stop eating peanut butter out of the jar – I type while having a spoon hanging out of mouth.

WORKING ON :  This post, haha.  I actually will be working on a photo frame idea over the weekend.  Maybe a post coming during the week next week if it works out.

WISHING : That is was Summer.  I know, I know I even shock myself when I say that.  As I am a redhead and heat and I don’t overly mix, moody is a word I would use and even then I am being nice to myself, hahaha…. Mind you I don’t mean 40+, slap you in the face when you open the door, can’t breath, the fridge becomes the best seat in the house with the door closed [I don't really do this, I might had opened and stood in front of it a while longer than needed], and your ice-cream melts before you even get a lick.  But you know warmer weather, it’s long over due and mother nature if your listening, I am more than ready when you are.

What are you CURRENTLY doing?  If you do a post be sure to link in the comments so I can come along and check it out.  I’m nosy like that haha, kidding I just like getting to know people more.

Project Life Week 5

Well after all the waffling on about it I have finally enough photos and an idea of what happened where to get back into it.  It’s going to take time, with about 26 weeks to go and then of course the more I do another week will pass haha!  But I am determined, have you ever seen a determined redhead?

I decided to stamp out some of the Becky Higgin’s grid journalling cards the other week while watching Underbelly with hubby and I also made my own 4 x 6 using a Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper pad.  Here is the result….

So on page one I used a mix of Becky Higgins cards that I stamped with stamps mainly from Amy Tangerine line Sketchbook.  And added a few embellishments, some I made myself and selling soon.

On the second page I also used a Elle Studio card in the corner and the rest were all made using the Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper pad.  I even used a mini paper bag and pulled out the tag to show what was hiding inside.

And here it is layed out.  Unfortunately the day is not so nice and while I usually get really good over cast photos, it just wasn’t happening today.

Now to get moving onto the next few weeks.

AND guess who I am going to meet tomorrow?!  Amy Tan [Tangerine] I am so excited!  I wasn’t going to because of my cold as I mentioned yesterday but hubby said I would be crazy not to, he knows I like her and her products.  So I am going to go!

Have a great weekend with what ever you do xx

31 Before 31

So last year I did this with 30 before I was 30 and managed to get about 20 out of 30 done. Mind you I did change some through out the time as life changes all the time and so does what I am into in the moment and what I am doing.

I have also decided to try and blog every time I accomplish something on my list below to try and help me keep on track.

I tell you it wasn’t easy trying to think up another list, let alone adding just another 1 haha, made all the difference.  I didn’t go extreme, although doing the girls play room up and bedroom will be, but I love my craftroom and so I know I can do it.  I have the most gorgeous bunk beds coming in November for Heidi and Chloe and so might try and get it done before then.  It’s a “aim” and would make it easier.

SO here is my 31 before I am 31…

  1. Learn to crochet [not completed on my 30 before 30]
  2. Read 31 Books. [already read one over the weekend, one down 30 to go].
  3. Finish a Smash* Book.
  4. Start 52 weeks of Instax.
  5. Paint the girls play room and add storage.
  6. Take the girls to the Zoo. [hubby too, lol].
  7. Raise and donate money before 31.
  8. Paint girls bedroom and make it pretty and in order.
  9. Continue with using my planner/diary through to 2013.
  10. Do a AT Day Book or homemade daybook, based on the cruise I went on in 2011.
  11. Do a “Week in the Life” either via Project Life, Smash* Book or Daybook.
  12. Fill another 8.5″ X 11″ Scrapbook Album.
  13. Do December Daily for 2012.
  14. Get another tattoo.
  15. Try and go out for dinner with our little family the first Monday of every month.
  16. Bake a cake from ABSOLUTE scratch and an actual cake.
  17. Go to a concert.
  18. Take Kira to something movies, shopping etc at least once a month even if just out for lunch in Seymour to have some mother and daughter time being she is 13.
  19. Have a HUGE clothes clean out.  I have kept way to much that I never wear, let alone the girls.  We all have way to many clothes and not enough storage.
  20. Have my chilli plant still alive at 31, Tilli is still going strong [touch wood].
  21. Knit all the girls a scarf before winter.  REALLY do it this time.
  22. Organise a birthday party for all my girls in 2013.
  23. Pick a month and keep up with the “photo a day” that has been going around.
  24. Keep making more of an effort to catch up with friends.  At least once a month for dinner, lunch etc.  More if possible.
  25. Continue training my baby girl Pippa.
  26. Help out at the Kindergarten a few more times, at least 3, being that Bowzie wont be there next year and she will be a BIG girl in prep.
  27. Have caught up with all of hubbie’s book work and on track by time I am 31.  WAY before then would be even better.
  28. Get the front garden in a little more order, weeds are not plants or exotic flowers no matter how much I tell myself.
  29. To continue on with above, same goes for the little back garden we have.
  30. Start a vegie patch.  Hubby has always wanted one.  Peas, strawberries, carrots and at least another fruit/vegie for it to count.
  31. Make a card a month, doesn’t have to have images but just to have a card on hand for birthdays etc as I don’t overly make them anymore and wouldn’t mind having some.

So there is my 31 before I am 31.  Wish me luck, I am determined this time and might even print it out and stick it all over the place lol!  Either ways I WILL have everything ticked off this list. xx

What I Did and Didn’t Do on my 30 Before 30 List.

So it has been and gone, turning 30.  And it was amazing to have a bunch of my closest friends and family all together to help me celebrate.  I truly felt so very special and extremely loved.

I did make a list of 30 things to do before I was 30.  Trouble is I would actually often forget about the list.  I was going to write it on a white board, make a poster, but these things just never happened and so when I would remember I would aim at just one.

Here is my list with what I did, didn’t and started to do….

  1. Learn to crochet. - I didn’t do this, I did watch a you tube video on it and read a few blogs but never got any further than that and it’s something I still want to do.
  2. Donate 35cm-40cms of my hair [I was VERY particular about my hair] - I did this in October 2011 and here is a little reminder on how my hair looked…Both to StraightDo I miss it?  Yeah I wont lie there are days when I really do, would I have it back, no.  I can wear my hair up as high as I want and NO constant neck aches, and my headaches have more than halved since cutting it.  Heidi and I also ended up in the local paper and we raised over $500.
  3. Read 30 books. - No this didn’t happen, I think I got to about 14 so you know not OVERLY a bad effort?
  4. Send a hand made card or gift once a month – I did this off and on, all up I might had done 8.
  5. Fill a SMASH* book. - SO close I was so close to this one, both my mini and red book where not far off being finished.  But after say 10 pages they get so darn bulky that it’s hard to do the rest.  NOT my excuse per say.  But I was close at least.
  6. Travel. I done this in October, in fact I left October 20th with my BFF Kristy, WHO as you all know I met through blogging!  We had a blast, I did miss my family SO much, but it was great to just relax and do something for me.  And the food OH BOY the food!
  7. Go to a concert -  Went to see Meatloaf in October 2011
  8. Knit all the girls a scarf before or during next winter. – FAIL didn’t even remember this one at all.
  9. Fill a scrapbooking album, most likely a 8.5″ x 11″ DONE in January 2012/February 2012.  And I was so happy when I did and am half way through another one before I started to get obsessed with smashbooking.
  10. Organise a 30th Birthday Party –  Done this and it was amazing and everyone there had a really good time!
  11. Have an Aussie day BBQ or if not a BBQ/Roast Dinner family or friends or both, just for the spending time together and the laughs.DONE both in January 2012.
  12. Start a planner/dairy in 2012 and keep it up to date on day to day events. – I did do this and while I didn’t always update it I would at least 2 weeks out of a month.  And then those times in between were mainly because I would miss place it.
  13. Take the girls to the ZOO. – We were going to do this so often but would either opt for the movies or something would come up.  Another to add to my 31 before 31.
  14. Paint nails a NEW colour once every 1-3 months. – I didn’t do overly to bad with this.  But after about 6-8 months I was not really into it anymore.
  15. Arrange a Pink Ribbon Fundraiser or raise money in some way for Pink Ribbon Day. - DONE in October 2011 with Tickled Pink Stamps and having a release at $1 per image and every $1 went to Pink Ribbon Day.
  16. Buy a house plant and have it live past 6 months…. I am a plant killer! – FAIL Rest in Peace Bob the Tiny Tomoato house plant.  But have had Tillie the chillie plant since May, so 4 months and she is still living, GO me.
  17. Bake a cake from SCRATCH-  I am not the best baker so this in itself is a challenge. – I started baking a LOT in June/July and while I didn’t actually bake a cake from scratch I still did Peppermint Chocolate Balls and Chocolate Ripple Cake from scratch and in my eyes that counts still?
  18. Buy a summer hat and wear it more than once. DONE in September 2011 – March 2012 and I still love this hat.  I also wore it on the cruise off and on a little.
  19. At least for a whole week before my 30th, take a picture everyday and blog about it for now real reason other than doing something different. – ANOTHER no, man I am wondering if I even did any of these at all haha?  But considering I show my week every Friday [was Monday] I sort of think, in a way, a round about ways, it counts?
  20. Get a nose ring or tattoo - DONE in April 2012060
  21. Start Project Life when it arrives and stick with it – I so failed this, and only recently have I thought that I want to get back into it and sat down the other day and figured out about 5 weeks, so there might still be hope?
  22. Help out at the kindergarten more often. - I done this for a few months in a row and then wanted to back off a little to allow other parents their turn.  But plan on helping out next month.
  23. Scrap a page all about ME. DONE in November 2011
  24. Paint girls play room and do it up a little. - Thought about it?  But no didn’t get around to it and still something I want to do.
  25. Get my hair cut at least every 1-3 months, not every 3-5 years – Done and did and loving the new length and the curls!
  26. Get my front garden in order, not much of a green thumb. – Yes and No.  Right now no, but it’s winter, wet and cold and I ain’t doing it lol!  But at the start of the year and when I set this, yes I was all over it most of the time.  But still needs something in there, flowers, tree or something?
  27. Raise and donate money at least twice before I am 30. DONE in October 2011, Pink Ribbon Day and March 2011 (kindergarten).
  28. Make more of an effort to catch up with friends, instead of being a home body at 29. – I wasn’t so bad with this actually and while some weekends I would rather lock the door and be with family I think that is A-OK because the next weekend we might hardly be home!  And I have been catching up once a month to once every other month with old school friends and it’s been amazing getting to know each other again and how our lives have changed but we can still have a laugh and act like teens, lol!
  29. Start 52 weeks of Instax and stick with it. – Yeah, nah fail, another one to add to my 31 before 31?
  30. Train Pippa – Am doing this myself and she is a hit and miss.  She never goes to the toilet inside at all so hit, she chews our shoes so miss.  But she learns really quickly and we gave her an old shoe when she was a pup, I think that’s our fault!

Well there you have it, adding it up I did about 20 out of the 30 which isn’t as bad because when I was typing this I felt like I was typing fail more than YAY done.  Now it’s time to set a 31 before 31 and actually try and stick to it, maybe even set them in my phone so that every now and then I get a alarm to remind me, not a bad idea actually.

What about you?  Do you set a something before something? Haha basically fill in the blanks, and do you stick to them and do them?

I think one on my list of 31 before 31 will be, do all 31 haha!  No doubt I will post that later this week!

xx

Peppermint Chocolate Balls…

So something a wee bit different today.  A few weeks ago as you might had seen by my instagram photo updates I had been baking or making, as not everything requires an oven.  I don’t know what it was, but I just wanted to bake/make sweet things.  And I surprised myself on some of the things I managed to make.  And so I decided to share the recipe to one, as I have had a few requests, the only thing is that you may not have these things where you live, so I decided to add a picture of each thing so that you could see if you knew you had anything similar where you are.

Peppermint Balls

  1. Condensed Milk – 1 Can
  2. Cocoa – 1 tablespoon
  3. Coconut – 1 cup
  4. Marie Biscuits – 1 packet
  5. Peppermint Crips – 2 peppermint crisps.
  • Now to make is VERY easy, well it’s sort of very easy.  You start by crushing to full packet of biscuits, with a rolling pin or how ever you do.  I usually crush as much as I can with a back of a spoon [no rolling pin] and then get out the hand held food blender and give them a go with this.
  • To crush the peppermint crisps, I get me now 5 year old to walk on them, haha, no really I do with the wrapper on of course and then add them while and use the blender a little more.
  • I then add the tablespoon of cocoa and most of the cup of coconut [you will need extra to roll the balls in].
  • I then mix in the condensed milk, mix it all together.  Using the tablespoon to help get a small amount and roll into balls and rolling it into a plate covered in coconut and put on another plate to then set.  And after your all done the end result looks a little like -
